BRUSH.jpeg explores how low-fidelity digital illustrations and independently coded spaces can respond to and resist AI slop’s invasion of artistic expression. BRUSH.jpeg proposes an alternative and strikingly upfront approach to image sampling. Unlike AI’s imitation of stolen content, BRUSH.jpeg positions its database as a palette for creating work entirely new and unmistakably human. Images created are intentionally proliferated with human error. Lines that wander, pulled on a trackpad with no undo available. Renders are choppy, often feeling unfinished and left in tension.
